In my first newsletter, I shared that I have embarked on an adventure known as The Grand Fantastical Escape. Today I would like to reveal some of the schemes I have designed to help accomplish this quest. Let’s take a look at the blueprints, shall we…
My plans are already underway. As I mentioned previously, starting this very newsletter was the first step. In terms of my blueprints pictured above, I consider this to be the vessel. The newsletter will keep me focused as I am dedicated to keep you, dear reader, up-to-date. In a way ,Sundae Matinee serves as a check and balance.
I have now entered the phase of building the base by conducting research. Last week I finished reading the book, Take The Leap: Change Your Career, Change Your Life written by Sara Bliss. As with many self-help reads, I find that the best attitude to have is not to go in thinking that this material will have all the answers. Instead, I look for sprinkles of sweetness that will ultimately help achieve my dreams. For me, the biggest takeaway from Bliss’s writing was that, since I am looking to make such a grand upheaval to my life I need to have a solid plan. However, the plan is only part of it… I need to actually follow it and be keen enough to realize that if something is not working, adjustments need to be made. This will ensure that the end of the tunnel remains in sight. My next read is: Pivot: The Art and Science of Reinventing Your Career and Life - I will be sure to report back on my findings.
With January’s task of kicking off my newsletter Sundae Matinee achieved, I now look onward to February in which I hope to create and design a website.
My website will be a destination for all of my work. From writing, to miniature films I am making and all the other sweet stuff I am creating. It will also serve as a platform for potential clients to hire me for graphic design, writing or magical endeavors. Last week, I was fortunate enough to have my first client: Liz Locke of CinemaSips. Since this will be a rather large undertaking, building the website will be the only experiment I am conducting in February.
On June 6, 2023 Liz will be releasing her first published book, Follow The Sun. I assisted her with creating a cover reveal for social media, which is pictured below. The book is now available for preorder here and I can’t wait to read it!
Lastly, in case you missed it… last week I was covering the Sundance 2023 film festival for MovieJawn. Below are my top five flicks from the fest. I have already started sharing dispatches over on MovieJawn.com and will continue to do so over the coming weeks.
